The 39th Application of Computers and Operations Research in the Mineral Industry (APCOM) is organized by MT-Silesia, the Wroclaw University of Technology, Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering, Mining and Geology and the Polish Academy of Science – Mining Committee.

Since the first symposium in early 1960’s, APCOM has been instrumental in fostering relationships between academic researchers and industry practitioners in the development of the latest computer based mathematical techniques in the mining industry. Over time, many breakthrough innovations, like e.g. geostatistics or the term "Mining Process Optimization", were born on these conferences.

The 2019 APCOM in Wroclaw will continue this tradition by focusing on all emerging digital technologies in mining. A special focus is also put on synergies of digital transformation in other industries and on IT supported low impact, smart mining of small deposits which is of special interest in Lower Silesia and adjacent regions in Germany and Czechia.

APCOM 2019 will host up to 100 high quality and peer-reviewed papers by international presenters from science and industry accompanied by a small exhibition. Up to 500 registered participants are expected to come to Wroclaw.
